Guidelines for Industry Specific Resumes

Engineering and Facilities Management

Under “Employment History”, you will want to define the scope of responsibility in terms of: square footage of property, number of buildings, departments supervised (i.e. Maintenance, Grounds, Environmental/Housekeeping, Power Plant, Security and/or Transportation).  Indicate the number of direct reports and their backgrounds ( i.e. ...managed a staff of 150 full-time employees  ranging from licensed engineers to craft tradesmen).  For each position, list your accomplishments.  Be sure they are (1)specific, (2)measurable, and (3)indicate the time to accomplish/gain results.

Food Management

Under “Employment History”, you will want to define the scope of responsibility in terms of :  type of establishment (restaurant, hotel), size of  establishment (number of people/plates served, number of rooms in hotel),  number of employees, and how many (if any) did you supervise.

Registered Dietitian

Under “Employment History”, you will want to define the scope of responsibility in terms of:  type of facility (hospital, nursing home, university), size of facility (number of hospital beds, student population etc), nature of work (worked with patients, supervised others, etc.).

Sales and Marketing

Under “Employment History”, you will want to define your scope of responsibility in terms of:  type and nature of company,  number of people supervised,  and personal achievements (lowered expenses, increased revenue, etc).
